Truecaller has rolled out an update for its iOS app which brings the ability for SMS filtering. After updating to the latest version the app will attempt to filter spam messages and separate it into a second folder.

This has been possible courtesy to iOS 11 which allows 3rd party apps to take control over the messages received and sort them into a separate SMS Junk tab that appears in the Messages app when you use an app that lets you filter messages. These applications can use keyword detection or machine learning algorithms to figure out if incoming messages are spam or useful and then sort them accordingly.

Once you update the app, it will guide you how to enable it (Settings > Messages > Unknown & Spam > turn on Truecaller). If you’re using iOS 11 then head below to download the update from the Apple Store.
